Research Activities
  • Review and interpret the theoretical and empirical literature on the motivations and effects of university industry research relationships (UIRRs)
  • Conduct in-depth case studies of universities with research relationships with agricultural biotechnology firms to understand their operation and effects
  • Build models of university and firm decision-making about UIRRs, and the potential effects on the public good characteristics of agricultural biotechnology products
  • Conduct a national survey of universities about UIRRs on agricultural biotechnology to test the models
  • Prepare reports of the case studies, model development, survey and analysis findings, and research and policy implications
 
Education and Outreach Activities
  • Construct a website at Portland State University to inform professional and public audiences of project activities
  • Hold workshop of researchers, university administrators, industry and interest group representatives, and policy professionals to identify key issues shaping UIRRs
  • Develop and disseminate university and off-campus educational activities via Oregon State University website
  • Hold workshop for scientists, administrators, industry and interest group representatives, and policy professionals to deliver findings and policy implications
  • Conduct state and national policy briefings of project findings and policy implications
  • Prepare final project report for publication
